Frequently asked questions
- We aggregate recent private sales, dealer retail listings, trade-in offers and auction results across the UK, then adjust for the specific make, model, year and mileage you're checking.
- Valuations track within a tight band of recent comparable sales. They are an estimate — the final price always depends on condition, service history and how a buyer feels on the day.
- If you're buying privately, anchor on the private value. From a dealer, anchor on the retail value but expect movement. When part-exchanging, the trade value is what the dealer is prepared to pay — anything more is a discount on the new car.
- Yes. Above-average mileage typically reduces a car's market value by several hundred pounds per 10,000 miles over the average. Our valuation accounts for this automatically.
- Trade value is an aggregate. Dealers price in their cost of preparation, warranty, finance and forecourt time. Anything within ~10% is normal variation.
